A Norwegian People’s Aid Mine Action vehicle in Yei on Sunday knocked a pedestrian dead and motor rider with fractured leg who later died in the hospital.
Yei Traffic Police Administrator Samuel Burugu told Easter Radio on Monday that the accident happened at 8.00 PM along Yei-Lasu road.
He said the driver continued driving after knocking the two people, but the traffic police and the riders traced and arrested him in Morsaki.
The Administrator added that the deceased was in Yei Civil Hospital mortuary.
Mr Burugu revealed that about seven people died in accidents since January.
He urged drivers to report honestly to the nearest police station than causing more accidents.
The Traffic Police Administrator attributed accidents recurrence in Yei to over speeding, chewing of marungi and use of vehicles dim lights at night.
