A national Member of Parliament representing Yei River County on Thursday criticized the ruling against Jansuk Executive Chief Faustino Aligo Taligi after a community dismantled a school illegally opened by an investor as unjust.
MP Moses Bidali Onesimo said the investor built the school without following legal procedures, Easter Radio reported.
He added that the investor’s hiring of military police two days ago, ambushing and arresting Chief Aligo was bias and that the ruling of Yei High Court was unfair.
MP Bidali argued that the land is under the authority of chiefs as representatives of the community, but not the High Court.
MP Bidali recalled that the same Court issued an order demolishing houses of Chief Emmanuel Lugala, questioning the competencies of grade one Judge in the county.
He said Local Government authorities and the Governor were not notified that the chief’s immunity was wiped off.
The MP urged the state government to assess the judiciary in Yei for justice to prevail.
