Hundreds of Eastern Equatorians yesterday filled up Torit streets causing a huge traffic jam along the Juba Road to welcome the new governor on his arrival from Khartoum.
Governor Louis Lobong Lojore took the opportunity to tell the crowd that he got permission to form the new government and that the number of state ministers increased from nine to 12.Mr. Lobong said he would take some time to form his government.
He explained that with the increase of ministers some departments had to be changed.
Mr. Lobong added that his government would be broad based with equal representation from every county.
The governor also announced that he met the Torit University chancellor and the minister for Higher Education to discuss the construction of the university.
Mr. Lobong said Khartoum pledged to build a hospital in the state and reconstruct the Kapoeta Catholic Church destroyed by government troops during the war.
The governor promised to stump out corruption in the state by removing names of ghost employees from payroll lists.
Mr. Lobong came to Juba to witness the swearing in of GoSS President Salva Kiir Mayardit and then proceeded to Khartoum to take part in the inauguration of President Omar Hassan al-Bashir.
