Lakes former caretaker governor said he was concerned with the plight of Rumbek street kids.

Telar Ring Deng told Good News Radio that before leaving office he asked the Mayor of Rumbek to register the street kids with the view of soliciting funds to open a Vocational Training Centre for them.

Mr. Telar explained that the street kids were about 300 and posed a potential danger for the residents of Rumbek.

He added that he would personally make a project proposal to a donor he knew at USAID to help the street kids.

Mr. Telar said that he was not able to accomplish all his plans with regard to the problem of insecurity in Lakes State.

He explained that he wished to convene conferences with governors of all neighbouring states to find a common ground to tackle conflicts, but his time in office was short.

Mr. Telar thanked all those who worked closely with him during his three months tenure in office as Lakes State caretaker governor.

He extended his gratitude to the citizens of Lakes state for what he described as their “unwavering support”.
