Church Leaders Mediation Initiative led by Bishop Emeritus Paride Taban on Friday announced peace agreement signed between government and South Sudan Democratic Movement/Army-Cobra Faction of former rebel leader, a theological scholar David Yau Yau.
In a statement issued on Friday, the church leaders called on the parties to the agreement to commit to successful and peaceful implementation.
It pointed out that the spirit of the agreement is peace and that there should be a ‘Zone of Peace’ in Pibor County and Jonglei State as a whole.
The church signatories to the agreement including Bishop Paul Benjamin Yugusuk and Bishop Arkangelo Wani Lemi also called on government and SPLM/A in opposition to urgently end conflict in South Sudan.
The church urged all citizens to humble themselves and embrace one another in love as one people.
The leaders pray for peace and hope that the signing of peace agreement would end conflicts in South Sudan.
