TRIBAL CONFLICT THREATENS FOOD SECURITY IN UPPER NILE

The apostolic administrator of Malakal diocese said tribal conflicts increase food insecurity and threaten the pastoral activities of the Church in greater Upper Nile.

Monsignor Roko Taban Mousa told SCR News that priests and catechists cannot reach many prayer centres in the diocese due to insecurity the area.

Msg. Mousa urged the government and aid agencies to help community in upper Nile to remain stable.

Msg. Mousa denied that lack of rainfalls is the cause of famine in greater Upper Nile region.

He said it is violence that does not allow people to cultivate.

Malakal diocese stretches to Unity, Jonglei and Upper Nile states.
