Over twenty youths are undergoing training of trainers on youth sexual health and HIV prevention.
The training is the first of its kind and draws youths from Eastern and Central Equatoria states.Alexadra Dimiti, UNFPA national programme officer, told SCR News that the goal of the five-days to promote youth participation in sexual and reproductive health issues.
Dr. Dimiti added that in South Sudan 201 out of 1000 live births are from adolescent mothers and fistula has a huge incidence in the area because girls become pregnant at a very early age.
Marle Mary, UNFPA national reproductive officer and focal person for adolescents on reproductive health, said the youth peer workshop is a tool to enable the participants pass knowledge from one youngster to another in a professional way.
The Youth Peer Education Network is a global system of youth educators that was launched last year in south Sudan.
It targets young people working in broad areas of adolescent and sexual reproductive health.
