Western Bahr El Ghazal Agriculture Ministry is intensifying mobilization of farmers to organize into cooperative societies in order to access loans to boost productivity.
Agriculture Director Carlo Camillo Fajolo said organized farmers would get loans from the South Sudan Agriculture Bank, Voice of Hope reported.
He said the Bank gave six tractors to farmers of Jur River, Wau and Raja Counties’ to be paid in instalments.
Mr Camilo said Food and Agriculture Organization or FAO promised to provide inputs including tools and seeds to Western Bahr El Ghazal farmers.
He added that FAO provided five motorcycles for agricultural data collection like rainfall and market prices and other information.
The Director revealed that World Food Programme gave 100 ox-ploughs to cooperative farmers free of charge.
South Sudan Agriculture Bank Manager Daw Elnour confirmed that interested farmer who would avail security guarantee would get loans.
He called on farmers to follow the requirements in order to get tractors.
