United Nation Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS reiterated its commitment to protect 67 thousand Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs who are still in its compounds across the country.
In a statement issued on Friday the Mission said it was aware of risks to IDPs and that congestion in Juba and Malakal remains its concern since the beginning of the crisis.
The Mission admitted that the risk of disease outbreaks remains extremely high.
The statement added that UNMISS is working tirelessly to protect IDPs from violence, through provision of space, water and sanitation.
The Mission said aid agencies joined efforts in mitigating public health risks arising from overcrowding and scorching temperatures among IDPs.
The statement reiterated that the Mission is averting IDPs’ health crises at Juba site by relocating them to areas not prone to floods gradually.
