United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS reported that its operations to relocate some 21 thousand civilians to the UN House at the foot of Körök hill was gaining momentum.
In an update CRN got on Wednesday, UNMISS said 1,433 persons volunteered to move from Tomping to UN House after they faced difficulties due to heavy rainfalls.
The Mission said Monday marked the biggest move since relocation started on March 12, with 413 civilians travelling in a convoy of 12 buses and ten trucks.
It said while the relocation of civilians is ongoing, emergency work would continue on the main drainage system to clear it and allow water to flow to improve hygiene and prevent outbreak of water-borne diseases.
The Mission said the work on sanitation and latrines is also ongoing.
