National MPs intervene in Lakes’ ethnic violence

Lakes Members of Parliament in the National Legislative Assembly and Council of States are in Rumbek to intervene in the ongoing inter-ethnic violence that shook the state in the last few weeks.
 
Deputy Speaker of National Legislature Daniel Deng Monydit said MPs were in the state to enlighten the masses on the current crisis in the country and intervene to reconcile various ethnic groups killing each other, Good News Radio reported.
 
He said the MPs and other leaders in the State would join hands to directly meet citizens at grassroots to find out the root causes of their conflicts.
 
The Lawmaker expressed confidence that peace could be realized in Lakes state if all members of the community are committed fully to reconciliation.
 
MP Deng appealed to youths, intellectuals, politicians and armed forces to distant from supporting inter-ethnic violence; saying fighting would never bring lasting solution to Lakes State.
 
The national MPs are currently in Cueibet County to reconcile two sections of Gok community after a fighting that left over 30 people dead last month.
