Four injured, one unconscious in Kagelu peaceful strike

At least five people were injured with one unconscious hospitalized after Körgulu community on Wednesday protested by halting all companies cutting the teak plantation.
 
Bosco Khemis said the community went to stop activities of the companies in the forest until the government meets their demands, Easter Radio reported.
 
He accused Gambo and Sons Timber Company workers of beating some community members.
 
Mr Bosco explained that the community had the intention to peacefully stop workers of the Company, but they responded violently.
 
The community said they would continue with further strikes to deal with any company that wants to carry on its activities.
 
Yei River County Forestry Administrator Ezideo Taban said some members were under the influence of alcohol.
 
Easter Radio could not reach Gambo and Sons Timber Company workers for comments.
