The government of south Sudan created a mobile team to issue nationality certificates to over five thousand citizens in Eastern Equatoria state.

Kenneth Perrie Crisper is the leader for a team of officials from GoSS Ministry of Internal Affairs charged with the responsibility of issues identity cards (IDs).

Mr. Perrie told Emmanuel Radio that his team is on a mobile exercise to issue IDs known as “jensia” to Sudanese citizens at county level.

He said the team targets to issue “jensia” cards to the rural communities in Greater Kapoeta, Magwi and Torit counties.

Mr. Perrie added that the mobile team was established to help the rural residents to get the nationality IDs at low cost.

He explained that poor members of the community cannot afford to travel to Juba for the cards.

Many residents of Eastern Equatoria do not possess Sudanese IDs as several were born in exile while others spent most of their life in neighbouring countries.

Lack of national identity cards prevented many youths from accessing education sponsorship and jobs that are specifically for nationals.
