National Education ministry introduces capitation grants

The National Ministry of Education in collaboration with UKAid introduced an initiative known as first capitation grants in the country.
 
Deputy Minister Bol Makueng said the initiative was one of the government ideas planned since 2004, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He said the budget for the grants was kept despite austerity measures in the country.
 
Mr Makueng added that there are strict conditions in order for a school to receive the funds.
 
The Deputy Minister said the aim of the initiative was to enhance quality education, enrolment of boys and girl and help registration of poor students and pupils.
 
Holy Cross Primary School Finance Officer in Lanya County Joseph Aligo Joel said the funds help them to maintain structures, damages and resolve many problems.
 
He added that it also help them to get some scholastic materials for pupils.
