Eastern Equatoria traders on Wednesday petitioned Mayor over high taxes that compelled them to increase prices of goods in various markets.
They appealed to Stephen Osfaldo Loboli to control taxation system to avoid prices that affect citizens.
The traders also demanded that goods should be taxed according to classifications in order to regulate prices in the market and help buyers meet their needs.
They also asked the government to identify a specific office where taxes could be channelled to avoid power abuse and mismanagement of funds.
The Mayor disclosed that the state Finance Ministry plans to unify tax collection.
The call for tax control followed complaints from buyers over high prices of goods in Torit markets.
