WBG marks World Theatre Day

Hundreds of citizens on Thursday turned up to Wau Cultural Theatre in Western Bahr El Ghazal to listen to music, dramas, poems and messages of peace marking the World Theatre Day.
 
State Information Minster Derik Alfred Uya described theatre and arts as powerful instruments to bring about peace by inspiring a culture of love and non-violence, Voice of Hope reported.
 
He said the Theatre Day was meant to bring people together to share their hope, laughter that relaxe their minds from evil thoughts to realize lasting peace.
 
Mr Alfred stressed that destructive minds can be made constructive through theatre performances and artistic nature.
 
The Minister cautioned media houses against exaggerating to the world that the whole of South Sudan was in chaos.
 
He said there is relative peace and stability in some states with businesses running smoothly.
 
The World Theatre Day was introduced in 1961 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization or UNESCO to commemorate the role theatre plays in shaping people live.
