Authorities in Cueibet County, Lakes Sate, welcomed the initiative to build a college to train teachers in their area after the promoters visited the place.
On Tuesday, a three-member visiting team from CESAR, the main Italian funding organization for the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek, were in Cueibet to see the place for the Teachers’ Training College (TTC) they plan to build.Enrico Paliotto told Good News Radio that the team met with various local authorities, including the acting commissioner, county education director and county administrator.
Eng. Paliotto added that the local authorities’ presence was an assurance that they understood education was the way forward for development.
He said the local authorities approved the TTC project, promising to cooperate with CESAR.
Giorgio Bonfadelli, in charge of transporting material for the construction and logistics, said his main challenge was to bring the building material in good time to Cueibet.
Vittorio Castellini, responsible for finding Italian builders who volunteer for construction work, said he was impressed by the education projects different institutions carry out in Rumbek diocese.
He added that he was going back to Italy motivated to encourage people to give their contribution towards the Cueibet TTC.
The team acknowledged the various challenges involved in the project, ranging from the distance between Italy and Sudan to the unpredictable nature of the works as they develop on the ground.
They requested prayers, solidarity and commitment from the local community.
Cueibet authorities gave to the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek a sizeable piece of land to build the TTC.
The complex will house 90 students and teachers together with the facilities of a modern university campus.
