Sudan People’s Liberation Movement or SPLM Secretary for Political and Syndicated Organizations urged able people to stop war to reduce disability in South Sudan.

Acuil Malith Bangol said persons with disability should be given chance to express their views and be informed about what is happening in the country.

He quoted the Transitional Constitution article 30 as saying persons with disability have the right to lobby for all services and special care.

The Secretary encouraged disabled persons to start lobbying for their rights at all levels of government.

Disability Rights Activist Henry Swaka Joseph urged the warring parties to stop the conflict in a shortest time possible to realize development in the country.

He said persons with disability are vulnerable in times of war because they cannot run for their safety.

The officials spoke on Wednesday in a symposium on the rights of persons with disabilities organized by SPLM under the theme: ‘War increases disability! Stop war’.
