Yei River County Animals and Fisheries Assistant Commissioner on Tuesday saidthe meat sold in markets was not inspected since the creation of the Municipality.
Milton Ismail Samuel expressed fear that the meat people consume could be from sick animals, Easter Radio reported.
The Assistant Commissioner said he would wait for approval from the Mayoress whether to resume meat inspection because the Municipality creation stopped their activities.
Mr Ismail said butchers were slaughtering cattle on the ground because of no proper constructed place.
He said they were working to establish a “holding ground” for animals brought from Uganda before they could be flown into the market.
