Juba City Council on Wednesday burned 51 cartons of shisha seized by Criminal Investigation Department or CID, national security and Local Government Officers from a trader in Konyokonyo market.

The City Council Clerk Joeslito Yoc Kulang said the cartons were found during an operation on unwanted materials in the city, Bakhita Radio reported.

He urged the public to inform the law enforcement agents about any illegal business on unwanted materials taking place in Juba City.

Mr Kulang advised those still dealing on shisha in residential areas to stop and look for other businesses.

The Clerk argued that there was no shisha in South Sudan many years back, but the practice came after the independence of the country.

Mr Kulang said the City Council has a public orders taskforce working hard to intercept and free Juba from shisha smoking and other unwanted commodities.

The Clerk said the seized shisha was burned during the day so that the people know that the government does not want such harmful business in the country.
