National Agriculture minister who visited Kajo-Keji County over the weekend urged citizens to work hard in their farms to achieve food security in the country.
County Press Secretary Amule Charles told CRN in a telephone that Beda Machar strongly urged all citizens to engage in deep ploughing and land levelling in preparation for early plantation to get more food.
The minister believes that it was everyone’s responsibility to eradicate persistent hunger and poverty in South Sudan.
Mr Charles explained that Minister Machar was impressed with Porongo Mixed Farm in Kangapo One Payam, ox-plough blacksmith work at Mondikolok of Lire Payam and Savannah Farm and Flour Mill factory at Böri Boma of Kangapo Two Payam.
He added that a banana plantation at Porongo Mixed Farm that is outcompeting foreign supply to the county also impressed the minister.
Kajo-Keji Commissioner Henry Kala Sabuni and Savannah Farms Managing Director Zamba Duku asked Agriculture ministry to provide tractors to boost production in the county.
Minister Machar accompanied by his colleague Finance Minister Aggrey Tisa Sabuni said the cabinet would decide on Kajo-Keji County’s request for tractors.
