The President of the Republic is expected to address the public on the Inter-governmental Authority on Development or IGAD’s summit on South Sudan crisis he attended on Thursday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Government spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth told journalists on Friday that the cabinet lauded President Salva Kiir on his role in the summit.
He said the cabinet blessed a plan for the President to address masses on the outcome of the summit as soon as Foreign Minister Dr Barnaba Marial Benjamin brings its communiqué from Addis Ababa.
Mr Makuei decried reduction in oil and non-oil revenues due to outburst of conflict in the country.
He explained that before the crisis, oil production did not resumed fully and that the conflict affected cross border trade with neighbouring countries leading to sharp decline in non-oil revenues.
The spokesperson consoled that plans were underway to boost the declining economy.
Armed opposition leader Dr Riek Machar rejected the summit resolution to deploy IGAD forces in the country, warning that it would regionalize the internal conflict.
