Army Spokesperson said the suspected army human rights violators who were imprisoned during mid December crisis escaped from the prison at the Military barrack when fighting broke out on March 5 in Juba.

Colonel Philip Aguer Panyang told CRN in a telephone interview on Friday that 120 suspects broke the prison when the guards were taking cover during the fighting.

The spokesperson described the act as ‘unfortunate incident’.

Colonel Aguer said the military command ordered police to search for the escapists to be apprehended to account for their alleged committed crimes.

The Spokesperson added that they would face the charges of escaping from the prison and the alleged human rights violations if found liable by investigators.

The spokesperson said it was very difficult to hold someone accountable for escaping in times of conflict.
