The President of the Government of Southern Sudan issued a presidential decree yesterday, canceling his earlier order issued two days ago which relieved all executive post holders in the ten states of the South.
Yesterday’s decree reinstated caretaker governors, state government advisors and ministers as well as county commissioners. The decree explained that the reversed decision was made because some elected governors were not sworn in yet.
Caretakers and other executive officials were relieved in states with elected governors already in power.
In the states without the elected governor in place, advisors, ministers and county commissioners resume their duties.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit yesterday left Juba for Khartoum to be present at the inauguration of President-elect Omar Hassan el-Bashir.
