UK boosts girls’ education in South Sudan

The national Education Ministry in collaboration with UKAID is expected to give five thousand South Sudanese Pounds each to all schools to improve girls’ education in the country.
 
Yei County Girl Child Education Supervisor Agnes Roba said the money would be distributed to both public and private schools, Easter Radio reported.
 
She added that each girl would also receive 35 South Sudanese Pounds monthly to facilitate her education.
 
The Education Supervisor disclosed that every Secondary School would also get ten thousand Pounds and each secondary student would receive 80 Pounds monthly.
 
She explained that the grant would also be utilized for buying learning materials and improving school environment.
 
Ms Roba said the money would also be used for buying food to some schools without feeding programmes last year.
 
She added that Lainya was a piloting county in the state and other counties would soon receive their money this academic year.
 
The Education Supervisor urged parents to send their children to school.
