Western Equatoria Governor on Saturday announced that the International Women’s Day celebration was postponed to Wednesday in Yambio.
Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro urged all women to organize themselves well and gather at the state secretariat where the celebration will take place, Anisa Radio reported.
He advised all women to embrace education, warning husbands against beating their wives.
State Minister for Gender and Child Welfare Zelifa Dawa said this year’s Women’s Day would not be as usual because of war in some parts of the country and many women died, displaced or lost family members.
She disclosed a plan to organize a massive prayer for all women to come together and mourn their sisters affected by the ongoing conflict in the country.
Minister Dawa said Western Equatoria women do not want war anymore.
