Government Spokesperson said the United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS must answer for the weapons security personnel seized in Rumbek, Lake State.

Michael Makuei Lueth was speaking on Saturday in Rumbek while inspecting an assortment of military hardware seized during a security search on UN hired trucks allegedly heading to Bentiu Unity State, Good News Radio reported.

The Minister wondered why the Mission was misbehaving when South Sudan was in conflict.

The Information Minister said the seizure of illegal arms confirms doubts that UNMISS had a hidden agenda in South Sudan.

Mr Makuei said the incident makes the government lose trust in the Mission and that government authorities have a license to search UNMISS vehicles from now on since they could not be trusted anymore.

One of the drivers K. Yusuf said UNMISS personnel called Francois hired them in Juba to transport the already packed containers to Bentiu.

He said it was the second time he was hired after transporting the first consignment to Rumbek last month.

The labels on eleven trucks driven by South Sudanese, Kenyan and Somali drivers indicated that some trucks were going to Akobo in Unity and others to Boma in Jonglei States.

The search from three of the eleven trucks revealed an assortment of brand new RPG 7 launchers, landmines, M16 machine guns, bayonets, field binoculars, communication equipment, and several rounds of ammunition.
