Women in Kumbur Payam, Heiban County of Nuba Mountains on Saturday celebrated International Women Day.
Kumbur Women Union Secretary Mary Elia told Voice of Peace on Friday that the day marks the important role women play in the society.
She added that the International Women Day was to enlighten women of their rights.
Ms Elia stressed that women were capable of doing what men do in terms of responsibility and office duties.
The Union Secretary advised Nuba women to celebrate their day in peace.
Ms Elia appreciated the role woman play at this particular time of war in Nuba Mountains.
The secretary advised woman to continue providing help to the soldiers wounded in the war.
Last year Nuba Mountains’ women celebrated International Women Day despite threats by Sudan air force.
