Morobo County of Central Equatoria Parents Teachers’ Association or PTA said educated girls have more chances of getting jobs than boys.
Ombasi Primary School headmaster Moro Moses Peter called on parents to send their girls to school to get employment opportunities, Morobo Radio reported.
Morobo Deputy Education Director Muto Moses Amule cited parents’ ignorance on girls’ education as one of the challenges facing the County.
He said massive community sensitization was paramount for parents to be well informed.
Morobo Primary School Management Committee chairperson Joyce Sadia Amule advised parents to guide girls and provide necessary needs despite poverty.
She urged girls to wear clothes that portray responsibility in them to gain public and community respect.
The speakers made their remarks during training on parents’ role in improving girls’ education organized by Community Empowerment for Progress Organization.
