US commits to bilateral relation with South Sudan

The United State Ambassador to South Sudan expressed her government commitment to build strong relationship with the youngest nation.
 
Susan D Page told Bakhita Radio ‘Wake Up Juba’ that US relationship with South Sudan remains very strong despite some challenges resulting from the political crisis.
 
She said she regularly meet with top state and national government officials.
 
Ambassador Page said American government will continue to address some problems in South Sudan.
 
The diplomat said the US government did not cut its support to the SPLA but stopped it security assistance for a while due to defection of 70 percent army and organized forces to the opposition.
 
She said the US government now focuses on supporting the cessation of hostilities and the verification and monitoring mechanism.
 
Ambassador Page denied allegations that her country was supporting the opposition and interested in the South Sudan oil.
