The National Elections Commission or NEC on Wednesday said elections were impossible due to current insecurity situation in the country.
Commission Chairperson Abednego Akok Kacuol said peace must first be achieved for successful processes especially in Jonglei, Unity and Upper Nile states, Bakhita Radio reported.
he said discussions with stakeholders were under way for South Sudan elections a success.
The chairperson revealed that the Commission consulted experts on the elections process.
He said another alternative for successful elections was voters’ registration as the first step.
South Sudan was expected to hold its first general elections in 2015.
