South Sudan Council of Churches or SSCC demanded reform and inclusive dialogue in the ongoing peace talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
SSCC Chairperson Bishop Michael Taban told the press on Tuesday in Juba that their delegation attended the second opening of the peace talks and presented a strong statement stressing the need for good governance, democratic institutions and organized forces reform, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said the delegation requested for education of the civil population, accountability, resource allocation, true reconciliation and healing.
Bishop Taban added that churches also requested for inclusive dialogue where they play chaplaincy role in guiding the process.
The Chairperson said IGAD Special Envoy in the talks stressed the need for comprehensive dialogue to arrest the situation in South Sudan.
Bishop Taban said they were also able to meet face to face with both delegations and shared common ideas with them.
He said the two delegations welcomed South Sudan churches to play very vital role of chaplaincy during the talks.
Bishop Taban said the IGAD envoys in Addis Ababa acknowledged the presence of church leaders and that they will invite four members to be part of the talks.
