The National Legislature comprising of Council of States and Legislative Assembly on Monday passed 2013/ 2014 supplementary budget and its Appropriation Bill.
Speaker Manasseh Magok Rundial verified and confirmed the provisions, chapter by chapter seeking approval from the August house.
Members of parliament unanimously assented to the passing of the Supplementary Budget and Appropriation Bill.
Finance Minister Aggrey Tisa Sabuni said 749 million South Sudanese Pounds additional budget was urgently needed to arrest the crisis situation in the country.
500 million South Sudanese Pounds was reallocated to the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and 249 million Pounds for Contingency Fund to meet humanitarian needs and public mobilization by the Crisis Management Committee.
The legislature recommended allocating 20 million Pounds for oxygen plant in the health ministry and 53 million Pounds to Agricultural Bank to meet food security and promotion of export earnings of non-oil revenues’ challenges affecting the country.
