UN says Mid December crisis ‘electric shock’

United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan described the mid December crisis as an ‘electric shock’ which affected their development programmes.
 
Toby Lanzer lamented that UN agencies’ many activities stopped and would have a negative impact in the future of South Sudan.
 
He said the radio station they built in Bor before the crisis was completely destroyed.
 
Mr Lanzer urged the warring parties to end the bloodshed because the crisis would not solve South Sudan central problem.
 
He called on South Sudanese leaders at all levels to reconcile and move the new nation forward.
 
Mr Lanzer clarified that United Nations agency including UNDP and UNESCO were supporting National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee led by Archbishop Deng Bul.
 
The Humanitarian Coordinator expressed UN commitment to support development needs of the country.
