An expatriate leaving after six years of continuous service as head of an NGO in the greater Bahr el Ghazal urged Sudanese to stay focused on God in order to bring about positive change.
Idah Kadyamatimba, from Zimbabwe, headed Medical Care Development International (MCDI) based in Rumbek, Lakes State, since 2004.MCDI deals with the physical rehabilitation of people with disabilities by providing artificial limbs.
Ms. Kadyamatimba told Good News Radio that Sudan underwent real change, adding that there are many things that can be done now that could not be done six years ago when she first came to Sudan.
She urged the Sudanese to focus on God, because only God is able to bring about positive change.
Ms. Kadyamatimba explained that the nature of her work was a great source of motivation because the results were almost immediate: crawling people went home walking.
She urged the communities of Lakes State and beyond to overcome the practice of revenge, explaining that it brings people nowhere.
Ms. Kadyamatimba is a medical practitioner who has also been active in faith-based groups, through ecumenical prayer gatherings and reconciliation meetings.
She was part of a team that motivated the local community to build a permanent Pentecostal Church in Rumbek.
