The released detainees expressed their commitment to be part of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD mediation process for political dialogue and national reconciliation.
A statement issued on Thursday said IGAD Envoys met with the seven released detainees of the SPLM leadership in Nairobi to seek their opinions on how they wish to see the next phase unfold.
The statement added that the meetings were extensive and productive.
During the meetings in Addis Ababa and Nairobi, the envoys outlined plans and sought the guidance of the leaders before the second round of the mediation on February 10.
The Envoys invited the parties to start the second round of the negotiations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
They dispatched the advance team of the IGAD Joint Technical Committee to South Sudan to conduct a predeployment assessment.
