The President of the Republic on Thursday in an extraordinary SPLM meeting denied reports that he ordered for the disarmament of presidential guards from Nuer community.

Salva Kiir Mayardit said the statement was twisted by Riek Machar and his group after realizing that the coup attempt had failed.

He denied that what happened was a misunderstanding among presidential guards who were resisting disarmament orders.

President Kiir wondered why at all he could give such orders.

The President revealed that he cannot pardon the detainees because what happened in mid December was very painful and that his constitutional powers could be used only after court verdict in some cases.

He pointed out that he had not pardoned the seven detainees bailed out by the Kenyan government.

President Kiir said he always receives several telephone calls all over the world demanding the detainees’ release to participate in peace talks.

The President refuted media reports the SPLA looted UNICEF school kits in Leer town of Unity State.

He said it was not a true story, arguing that the looting was done before the entry of government forces into the area.
