Apuk-Juwiir community leader in Thiet Payam of Tonj South County of Warrap State said they finished Apuk-Juwiir-Thony communities’ four-day peace and reconciliation conference on Sunday.

Tonj South community Leader Longar Lual said the conference was meant to stop border conflicts, girl pregnancy and cattle raiding, Don Bosco Radio reported.

He urged Greater Tonj community to work for peace and reconciliation to develop the country.

Mr Lual said Apuk-Juwiir and Thony communities agreed to have lasting peace as they sprinkled water upon themselves to signal free movement of cattle and people in the areas.

He said the communities agreed that early girl child pregnancy, cattle raiding and other issues should be solved by police, but not individuals.

Mr Lual added that Apuk-Juwiir youths and Thony youths slept in one place to show togetherness.
