Journalists and child protection committees from Yei and Morobo Counties on Friday concluded the two-day training on child protection in Yei Municipality.

The training was to improve media practitioners and the committees’ knowledge on child protection, Easter Radio reported.

Morobo Radio journalist Geriga Charles appreciated Plan International for bringing together media practitioners and the committees to know their joint role in protecting children’s rights.

Yei River County journalists’ representative Awule Ezio called for cooperation between the media and the committees to accurately and truly protect child rights.

He explained that participants acquired little knowledge on child protection in the two-day training.

Mr Geriga called for extension of Plan International projects to Morobo and other counties to free children from abuses and violence.

Plan International Right to Choose Program Coordinator Stella Ferestina urged participants to work together as child rights’ defenders for the betterment of children in the country.

She said there are more capacity building workshops and extension of plan projects to other counties if funds were availed.

Yei County Assistant Commissioner of Gender Child and Social Welfare Victoria Nasera called on participants to implement the skills gained from the training for communities to stand against child rights violators.
