Yambio Farmers’ Association or YAFA is purchasing maize from local individual and group farmers in Western Equatoria State.

YAFA Chairperson Louis Magianga said World Food Program or WFP donated to the Association 300 thousand South Sudanese Pounds for buying maize from local farmers, Anisa Radio reported.

He said they were buying 50 kilograms with 80 South Sudanese Pounds.

Mr Magianga called upon all farmers around Yambio to bring their maize directly to the YAFA office.

He added that those in remote areas have to assemble their products in one place and the Association will send a mobile team to buy.

The Chairperson blamed farmers for slow respond to such opportunities.

State Agriculture ministry Marketing Deputy Director Samuel Anibie Datiiro said they set a policy to take markets to local farmers.

He added that the ministry also set a policy of free movement and exempting farmers from taxation to sell their produce to other states in South Sudan.
