President says ceasefire to end South Sudanese agony

The President of the Republic on Friday said ceasefire signed on Thursday would bring an end to the misery of South Sudanese.
 
President Salva Kiir Mayardit told the press in Juba on Friday that the conflict that erupted in December, would be resolved through peaceful dialogue, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He said the warring parties came to their senses and would resolve the issues though negotiations.
 
President Kiir appealed to the forces loyal to Riek Machar to accept the deal.
 
He appreciated the role international community played in realizing peace in the country.
 
President Kiir directed Defence, National Security and Interior ministers to ensure that their forces refrain from attacking the UN, the international community, NGOs, foreigners and citizens.
 
He told the police to play their role of protecting civilians.
