A bush fire in the dried up marsh lands of Panyijiar County, Unity State, killed more than 100 wild animals.

The commissioner of Panyijiar County, Lony Biel, told SRS that many other animals were dying of hunger because they pasture was bunt.

Mr. Biel said the fire took place in the marshes where wild animals including elephants, antelopes, crocodiles and rhinos come to drink.

He explained that during the dry season the grass gets dry.

Mr. Biel said the wildlife department is searching for the people that started the fire.
