African Union or AU Commission Chairperson urged the government and the armed opposition to immediately and unconditionally cease hostilities and sign agreement in the supreme interest of the suffering people.
Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma in a statement on Saturday deplored the senseless killing of innocent civilians and the humanitarian tragedy unfolding on the ground.
She called on the parties to ensure unfettered and secured access by humanitarian agencies to all people urgently need assistance especially women, children and the elderly.
The Chairperson told the warring parties to respect international human rights and humanitarian laws.
Dr Zuma called for an urgent establishment of Inquiry Commission to investigate human rights violations and other abuses committed during the armed conflict and recommend best ways to ensure accountability and reconciliation among South Sudanese.
