The President of the Republic cancelled a plan to address citizens on the progress of the negotiations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Press Secretary in the Office of the President Ateny Wek Ateny told the media in Juba on Wednesday that President Salva Kiir’s public address would not take place as planned, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said the President would only address the nation after progress was made in the talks.

Mr Ateny said the current report from Addis Ababa indicates that negotiators were left with only two items to be discussed.

The Press Secretary  said the two parties were discussing the items on Wednesday to sign cessation of hostilities.

Mr Ateny said President Kiir urged citizens to report to the government any form of aggression.
