The National Legislative Assembly called on the warring parties to immediately cease hostilities to end the suffering of the people in the country.

Speaker Manasseh Magok Rundial told the press in Juba that the dispute could not be settled while fighting was ongoing and people continue to die, Bakhita Radio reported.

He called upon the warring parties to immediately reach a ceasefire agreement.

The Speaker of the Council of States Joseph Bol Chan said the precondition given by the rebels would not help.

He said it was important to sign ceasefire because the more the talks delay, the more people lose lives.

The leader of the minority in the National Legislative Assembly Onyoti Adigo Nyikwech said IGAD members contradicted the talks in Addis Ababa because the parties agreed to negotiate without preconditions.

He said Riek Machar’s demand for the release of detainees was unacceptable.

Mr Adigo added that cessation of hostility was the most important thing in the talks for amicable resolution of every issue.

The parliament strongly urged Dr Machar to immediately accept the ceasefire to end innocent bloodshed in the country.
