A member of the National Legislative Assembly called for urgent sitting to allow MPs bless the state of emergency declared by the President of the Republic before it expires.
President Salva Kiir recently declared state of emergency in Jonglei, Upper Nile and Unity States, Bakhita Radio reported.
Minority leader Onyoti Adigo Nyikec said if the state of emergency took another 15 days without parliament’s blessing, it immediately elapsed.
He said MPs are in recess and the government was not doing anything to push the move.
Mr Adigo wondered whether the president will declared another state of emergency without MPs blessing or violate the law and continue with the old one.
The leader said some armed elements on January 9 attacked Fashoda County and burnt down three villages, killing two women and another three went missing.
He said the attackers took with them over 300 heads of cattle.
Mr Adigo condemned the barbaric act and called upon the state government to investigate the incident and make perpetrators accountable.
