An Italian Non-governmental Organization starts next week the first steps toward the building of a Teacher’s Training College (TTC) in Cueibet, Lakes State.
Marco Bertolotto is the vice-president of an Italian NGO called Cesar. He told SCR News that his organization is in South Sudan to build a TTC in Cueibet.Dr. Bertolotto said the Cueibet TTC aims at preparing 30 teachers per year.
Dr. Bertolotto explained that the first materials to be used in the contraction of the TTC are arriving from Italy and works should start next week.
He added that the TTC will be a modern campus to accommodate the college, and 90 students and teachers at a cost of two million US dollars.
Mr. Bertolotto said the three-year course starts in April 2011 and the TTC takes candidates from all over South Sudan.
The Marist Brothers, who directed a teachers’ training centre in Kitale, Kenya, during the war, will manage the Cueibet TTC.
