A Bishop of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan said the conflict that started on December 15 in Juba and spread to other parts was a curse and punishment to South Sudanese.

The Assistant Bishop of Juba Diocese Paul Yugusuk told Equatorians on Friday that South Sudanese did not build a tower to God but were pointing fingers to one another.

He said God is a good God and wants South Sudanese to rebuild their nation if they were united.

Eastern Equatoria Governor Louis Lobong Lojore refuted rumours that Equatorians were watching the war.

He said Equatoria were fighting and their leaders were condemning the alleged coup attempt and the subsequent killing of civilians.

Western Equatoria Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro said there is no need for violence in South Sudan.

He urged citizens to embrace the spirit of dialogue, unity, love and peaceful coexistence.

The officials made the statements in Juba during the extraordinary Equatoria conference in response to the current national crisis.
