The Diocese of Tambura-Yambio opened yesterday its annual assembly to assess the work accomplished in the past year and plan the way forward.

Almost 60 participants, mainly priest and church personnel, are gathered in the Nzara Pastoral, Liturgical and Catechetical Centre of the Diocese, SCR News correspondent reported.

The assembly focuses mainly on strategies of self-reliance.

The celebration for the Centenary of the Diocese, taking place in 2012, is also on the agenda.
The Catholic Church in Tambura-Yambio is extensively involved in the education, health and reconciliation activities.

Many displaced people running away from the LRA atrocities find shelter in churches, which have to face the emergency of providing food and shelter.

The assembly concludes tomorrow.
