The recent unrest in South Sudan put nearly 200 thousand Sudanese refugees in a critical security situation in Yida and Ajuong Thok of Unity State.
In a statement, Yida refugee camp-chairlady Najda Romio Peter said refugees from Yida and Ajuong thok were cut off and face difficult choices of either remain without assistance or return to Nuba Mountains in Sudan.
She said international organizations were denied access to serve the refugees.
Ms Romio added that 1200 persons from Western Kadugli arrived Yida and were not registered.
The chairlady said the fighting forced NGOs working in the refugee camps to evacuate their personnel which put refugees’ lives at risk.
The chairlady appealed to the United Nations Secretary General and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to protect the refugees in Unity and Upper Nile states.
She also appealed to UNHCR not to abandon the refugees at this critical moment and continue to provide the needed basic services.
